Responsibilities
Safeguards all company assets
Federal, state and sales tax compliance and audits, including the preparation and review of all required tax and compliance reports
Directs the preparation, integrity, and interpretation of the financial statements
External auditors, including financial statement audits, IRS and state compliance audits, sales tax audits, and bank compliance audits
The following sub-activities: Cash management, Accounts payable, Fixed asset accounting, Employee benefit compliance and payments, and Account analysis and reconciliation
Reports financial information to management
Provides accurate and timely financial data
Provides the information necessary in a timely manner to support ongoing business decisions and ensure that the information accurately reflects the status of the business
Audits liaison – financial, tax, and contract compliance
Directs the internal auditing of receipts, disbursements, product and operational costs, assets and liabilities
Reviews daily cash management reports and authorizing cash transfer or loan requests
Originates, supervises and reviewing the work delegated to accounting staff
Maintains company accounting record storage
Month-end and year-end processing of the company system
Recommends the establishment and maintenance of relationships with banks, CPA, and consultants as required
Manages the accounts receivable to ensure the company receives prompt payment for its products and services
Creates cost reports that include gross margin and other key data, as appropriate, for management performance measures
Provides the management team monthly data with appropriate write up explaining any variations from the yearly budget and operating plan
Performs operational audits of the other departments within the company to ensure operational efficiencies are maintained as planned and budgeted and to ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures
Backs up the essential functions of the Finance Department by training (or arranging for) back up personnel
Establishes- or recommending major economic objectives and policies for the company
Arranging for audits of company accounts
Prepares reports as required by regulatory agencies
Advises the General Manager about property and liability insurance coverage needs
Advises the General Manager concerning company objectives, policies and plans whenever accounting activities are involved
Qualification
Required
A college degree is required along with at least 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in the accounting area
CPA is highly preferred
Management, organization, and communication skills must be highly developed
Computer skills need to be broad-based
This person must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to calculate accounting functions, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization and inconsistencies exist
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Preferred
CPA is highly preferred
