Senior HVAC-R Project Manager

CPI Service, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is seeking a Senior Commercial HVAC-R Project Manager to oversee mechanical and HVAC/R system projects from inception through closeout. The role involves managing customers, estimates, internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with codes, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

Lead all phases: scope development, scheduling, resourcing, cost estimating, permitting, procurement, installation, testing, and turnover
Manage internal service/installation crews and subcontractors; ensure full compliance with company procedures and safety standards
Track project budgets; identify and address deviations. Proactively mitigate schedule delays and constraints
Serve as the primary client liaison. Provide updates, resolve issues, ensure excellent customer satisfaction and swift follow-through
Ensure all installations comply with industry standards and codes (HVAC, UL, ASME, etc.). Coordinate with QA/QC teams, including testing and commissioning
Maintain timely project documentation: submittals, RFIs, change orders, daily logs, closeout packages, and final client sign-offs
Enforce safety protocols on-site. Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure all personnel have proper training and certifications

Required

5+ years in Commercial mechanical/HVAC project management within commercial, industrial, or mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, labs, schools, manufacturing)
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
Proficiency with MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems: refrigeration, chillers, boilers, VRF, refrigeration, compressed air
Familiarity with industry codes: ASME, UL, industry-specific HVAC standards
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
Willingness to travel between Northern California job sites; valid driver's license required

Preferred

PMP or LEED certification is a plus
