Accounting & Compliance Analyst

Responsibilities
Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to assist the CFO and senior leadership
Maintain accurate accounting and vendor records, including W-9s, ACH information, and supporting documentation for all payments
Prepare and process purchase orders (POs) from requisition to issuance, ensuring compliance with established procurement policies and budget controls
Track open purchase orders and reconcile PO balances, payments, and expense categories
Compile and review documentation to support accurate accounting entries and timely reporting of vendor payments
Review and reconcile subrecipient and subgrantee financial reports to ensure allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of costs in accordance with federal guidelines
Monitor and audit subrecipient and program expenditures to confirm compliance with grant agreements and funding terms
Assist in the preparation and submission of payment requests, reimbursement packets, and supporting documentation for state and federal funding partners
Participate in internal audits and external financial or compliance reviews, helping to identify and implement corrective actions
Support internal departments in interpreting procurement, contracting, and financial compliance requirements
Provide guidance on proper coding and documentation of expenditures to meet GAAP and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) standards
Maintain systems and processes for budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and fund reconciliation
Assist in developing and refining accounting and compliance procedures to promote accuracy, transparency, and continuous improvement
Serve as a liaison between program staff and accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting for intermediary or pass-through grant activity
Provide support for Interagency Service Agreement, Intergovernmental Agreement, and contract compliance for payment reimbursement submissions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a nonprofit, government, or grant-funded environment
Working understanding of GAAP and governmental or fund accounting principles
Demonstrated experience with procurement processes, vendor management, and invoice payment systems
Proven process management and workflow development skills
Successful record of managing multiple projects with demonstrated ability to work independently in rapidly changing environments
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with attention to accuracy and detail
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a collaborative approach
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting or ERP systems
Preferred
Experience with subrecipient monitoring and compliance under federal programs (e.g., HUD, Treasury, or USDA-funded programs)
Familiarity with OMB Uniform Guidance and Single Audit requirements; preference for 2 CFR Part 200 experience
Experience with Abila MIP or similar fund accounting software
Prior use of AZ360 or other state-level accounting platforms
Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRM tools
Demonstrated success in supporting multiple projects and maintaining compliance in dynamic funding environments
Ability to develop strategic plans in concert with agency and department goals
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with various levels of experience throughout the organization
