Human Resources Generalist (On-Site)
Design Foundry is a premier event design and décor company based in Landover, MD, known for creating extraordinary, immersive experiences for corporate, social, and private events. We are seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations, managing employee relations, compliance, payroll, benefits, performance management, and onboarding.
Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, questions, and conflicts
Apply company policies fairly and consistently, while providing straightforward guidance to employees and leadership
Support employee relations documentation and escalate complex issues to leadership or external HR advisors
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations to ensure compliance
Execute payroll accurately and on time using Gusto
Assist with benefits coordination and support employees during enrollment
Utilize Connecteam for tracking PTO and hours and integrating data with Gusto
Support managers with performance management, coaching, and enforcement of policies
Coordinate annual review processes and assist with tracking required documentation
Support recruiting efforts by sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and assisting with onboarding
Ensure smooth transitions for new hires, providing guidance on company policies and culture
Build trust and positive relationships with employees while maintaining a consistent approach to HR policies
Act as the HR liaison between leadership and staff to ensure accountability and clarity
Qualification
Required
5+ years of HR experience in a generalist capacity handling employee relations, compliance, payroll, and benefits
Strong conflict resolution and employee relations skills
Proficient in HRIS systems and payroll platforms, with experience customizing workflows, creating onboarding packets, configuring holidays and benefits, and managing backend system processes
Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
Ability to enforce policies consistently while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
