Roessel Joy is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Staff Accountant to join their dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will support tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review tax returns, including INDIVIDUAL filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Assist with estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law documentation as needed

Support financial statement preparation and analysis in accordance with GAAP standards

Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data

Conduct account analysis, account reconciliation, and financial report interpretation to support management decision-making

Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and ensure timely submission of financial reports

Support auditing activities by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to tax and financial data

Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other financial software to manage bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll, and other accounting functions

Participate in budgeting processes and assist with financial planning initiatives

Apply knowledge of securities law, non-profit accounting, private equity, mergers & acquisitions, and asset management as relevant to client needs

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws including LIHTC regulations and SOX compliance standards

Support the implementation of internal controls related to technical accounting practices such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and regulatory compliance
