Associate, Private Equity
Star Mountain Capital is a rapidly growing private investment firm focused on the lower middle-market. The Associate will support the origination, underwriting, and management of private equity investments in U.S.-based companies, with responsibilities spanning deal execution, investment strategy, and portfolio oversight.

Responsibilities
Support sourcing, evaluation, and execution of private equity investments
Assist in developing outreach targets, tracking pipeline activity, and preparing diligence and execution materials
Support investment thesis development and execute detailed due diligence, including market research, competitive analysis, financial modeling, and coordination of third-party advisors
Assist with term sheet and documentation processes
Prepare Investment Committee materials, including data-driven analysis, sensitivity cases, and clear summaries of key risks and recommendations for senior review
Support portfolio company management through financial analysis, performance monitoring, board material preparation, strategic initiatives, and exit planning workstreams
Assist in building relationships with management teams, investment banks, and deal intermediaries to support deal flow
Provide analytical and materials support for fundraising and investor engagement as needed
Contribute to broader firm initiatives, including market mapping, sector research, firm development projects, and internal process improvement
Work collaboratively with Analysts and senior investment professionals, demonstrating strong ownership of workstreams and high standards of execution
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of relevant recent experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related transaction-focused role
Strong financial and analytical skill set, including experience in financial modeling, company/industry diligence, and investment memo preparation
Exposure to lower middle-market investing and/or companies with $5–50 million of EBITDA is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and an entrepreneurial mindset aligned with contributing to the growth of a leading private investment firm
Willingness to travel nationwide as needed for deal sourcing, portfolio support, and investor engagement
Timing: Immediate
Location: Must be willing to work out of our Tampa or NYC office
Preferred
Investment experience or interest in business services, industrials, healthcare, and technology is desirable
