Regulatory Inspector - Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners

The State of Missouri is seeking a Regulatory Inspector for the Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections of cosmetology and barber establishments, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations, and preparing detailed reports of findings.

Responsibilities

Schedule and conduct initial, annual, board directed, random, and follow-up inspections of assigned cosmetology and barber establishments and schools to assure conformity with applicable state laws, rules and regulations
Verify licensure of professionals and businesses and associated business documentation as it relates to licensure requirements
Prepare detailed reports of inspection
Testify at administrative or judicial proceedings regarding inspection procedures and findings
Receive and refer inquiries from licensees, students, consumers, public officials and the general public to appropriate board personnel
This position is required to travel up to 95% of the time with minimal overnight travel

Required

1-2 years of experience as a Customer Service Representative; a licensed professional in an industry regulated by the Division of Professional Registration; or professional or technical experience in business administration, licensing, law enforcement or closely related areas will qualify as relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to identify, explain and apply applicable statutes and regulations
Ability to analyze and prepare clear and detailed reports of findings
Good, effective communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task
Ability to make routine decisions
Ability to organize workflow and independently establish priorities and deadlines
Willingness to travel up to 95% of the time with minimal overnight travel

Preferred

Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
