Senior P&C Field Engineer

RMS Energy Co, LLC is seeking a Senior P&C Field Engineer to join their growing Field Services team. In this role, you will lead the testing, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage substation and generation equipment while mentoring junior team members and ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld.

Responsibilities

Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, minimizing risk in field operations
Troubleshoot and optimize electric power systems using a strong foundation in power theory
Lead testing of protection and control relays, verifying inputs, calibration, alarms, metering, and SCADA integration
Oversee repairs and commissioning of substation relaying/control systems, including relay integration and pilot channel equipment
Operate test equipment and interpret readings to assess equipment health and relay performance
Read and apply schematics and wiring diagrams to ensure correct wiring and testing
Produce detailed reports to document testing, maintenance, and repair activities
Direct field crews by assigning tasks and ensuring on-time, quality project execution
Promote a safety-first culture through leadership and enforcement of safety standards
Perform electrical maintenance tasks using specialized tools and testing equipment
Streamline diagnostics and reporting by using major test software platforms
Carry out other duties as assigned to support team and company goals

Required

8+ years in substation commissioning, relay calibration/testing, and control system repair
5+ years of experience leading project execution, system integration, and relay settings coordination
Expertise in substation design, commissioning, SCADA, fault data systems, and integration/automation testing
Advanced knowledge of three-phase power systems and protection/control schemes
Proficiency in interpreting wiring and elementary diagrams for technical analysis
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple competing deadlines
Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communications
Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with field and office teams
Bachelor's degree in electrical technology, Power Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
Willing to travel frequently (minimum 70%) with overnight stays and flexible availability for overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights
Annual safety training is required and may involve out-of-state travel
Comfortable working in loud environments, at elevated heights, and near energized equipment
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, crawling, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
Proficiency in English is required for communication, documentation, and safety compliance

Preferred

Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading field crews
Familiarity with test software platforms for advanced diagnostics
Background working in live substation or high-voltage environments
