Digital Communications Manager
Reserve Organization of America (ROA) is a national membership organization dedicated to the uniformed reserve components and their families. The Digital Communications Manager will execute the organization’s digital communications strategy, manage social media and email platforms, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Responsibilities
The Digital Communications Manager participates in organizational and program planning discussions to understand intent, priorities, sequencing, and desired outcomes
The role advises the CEO on digital implications of strategic decisions and identifies how communications can reinforce organizational objectives, stakeholder engagement, and public positioning
The position personally executes the organization’s digital communications
This includes maintaining and updating the website through the CMS, managing all social media and email platforms, writing and publishing short-form digital content, and ensuring alignment with leadership priorities
The role captures photos and short-form video at events, meetings, and programs and produces publish-ready content without reliance on external vendors
The Digital Communications Manager develops and maintains an integrated communications plan that links strategic initiatives to tactical execution, establishing rhythms, timelines, and priority themes
The role ensures that major initiatives are supported by consistent messaging before, during, and after execution
The position serves as the internal communications hub, coordinating directly with leadership and limited external vendors for discrete products such as major videos or design projects
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience integrating communications into organizational or program-level planning
Proven ability to personally execute digital communications across website, email, and social platforms
Hands-on experience capturing and publishing photos and short-form video at live events
Strong writing skills and sound judgment in translating strategy into clear, credible messaging
Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and execute with minimal supervision
Preferred
Experience in nonprofit, government-adjacent, or membership-based organizations
Familiarity with executive-level planning processes and stakeholder environments
Working knowledge of basic photo and video editing tools
