Deputy Project Manager-Alternative Delivery Division

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Deputy Project Manager for their Alternative Delivery Division. This role involves coordinating program and project management activities, ensuring compliance, and facilitating communication with stakeholders while overseeing various project types.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Audits and ensures quality control processes of projects for the division and/or alternative delivery program
Develops and/or interprets contract requirements and specifications in support of Alternative Delivery projects
Develops, recommends and/or interprets policies and procedures regarding projects or program activities
Prepares sensitive and high-level correspondence and technical reports
Responsible for the timely response of project issues, conflicts, requests for Information and other documents submitted by the developer
Plans, coordinates, executes and/or supports in-person, hybrid, and virtual meetings, training events and conferences
Manages program-level procedures, training and resources; coordinates with subject matter experts to maintain relevance with program requirements
Supports division's strategic communication efforts
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related discipline
4 years experience in transportation project development
Valid driver's license
Extensive knowledge of government programs and operations affecting highway and Alternative Delivery development
Considerable knowledge of contract development and management policies and procedures
Considerable knowledge of agreements and related transportation engineering, contracting/procurement requirements
Expert skill in directing and establishing objectives; clarifying roles and responsibilities; evaluating results and making necessary adjustments
Expert skill in communicating complex ideas and information clearly, concisely, and effectively
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Collaborates and cooperates with others and builds effective working relationships with internal and external members to accomplish organizational goals
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
