Responsibilities
Monitoring database performance and conducting proactive tuning
Managing backup and recovery processes
Troubleshooting database issues and ensuring timely resolution
Supporting application deployments and SQL development requests
Collaborating with Infrastructure teams to enhance SQL availability
Implementing Microsoft SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG) where appropriate
Qualification
Required
Candidates must be based in the Houston area, as relocation assistance is not provided
Only individuals authorized to work in the U.S. will be considered
Experience with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB
Ability to manage, maintain, and optimize all assigned databases to ensure operational stability and performance
Monitoring database performance and conducting proactive tuning
Managing backup and recovery processes
Troubleshooting database issues and ensuring timely resolution
Supporting application deployments and SQL development requests
Collaborating with Infrastructure teams to enhance SQL availability
Implementing Microsoft SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG) where appropriate
Establishment of standardized database maintenance routines
Implementation of improved monitoring, tuning, and optimization processes
Enhancement of backup and restore strategies
Optimization of existing database environments
Coordinated implementation of AAG for improved high availability
Ongoing monthly health checks and performance reports
Performance will be evaluated using metrics such as database uptime and overall system stability, reduction in recurring incidents and outages, successful execution of backup and recovery tests, timely resolution of support tickets and database-related requests, improvements in query performance and resource utilization, adherence to maintenance windows and scheduled routines, and documented enhancements to database availability and reliability
