Biology Graduate Student Summer Internship

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Student for a summer internship in the Bioscience Division. The role involves conducting research in microbial biomanufacturing of petroleum replacements and developing sustainable aviation fuels from cyanobacteria as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Current Graduate Student in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a related field
Hands-on experience in a wet-lab setting
Broad knowledge of microbial biomanufacturing and clean energy technologies
Proven ability to work creatively and independently
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills
Must be enrolled (6 semester credit hours or full-time equivalent) in an accredited, degree-granting graduate level program (or international equivalent)
Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
Proficiency in handling algae and/or cyanobacteria
Prior experience in microbial co-culturing/community characterization and genetic engineering
Demonstrated leadership and organization skills
