Operational Readiness Specialist - Intern

Hensel Phelps is a comprehensive building provider that specializes in development, construction, and facility services. The Operational Readiness Specialist - Intern will assist site supervisors in project management, focusing on commissioning, quality control, and operational readiness activities to ensure systems are prepared for project closeout.

Responsibilities

Assist with commissioning documentation, including equipment lists, test registers, and project files
Support O&M manuals, drawing and specification review, inspection records, and closeout documentation
Participate in equipment tagging and quality control checks on the jobsite
Follow all safety procedures and help with safety walks
Engage with senior engineers, trades, and project staff to provide support and learn processes
Attend meetings, site walks, and trainings; document notes and follow-up actions as needed
Support updating digital commissioning software with inspection and test data
Assist in tracking Owner training requirements and coordination with trade partners
Other tasks as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in construction, engineering, or related field preferred
Entry-level experience or interest in construction, facilities, or commissioning support
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, email, document management)
Ability to think critically and problem solve
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Willingness to work on job sites and follow safety protocols
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and trades
