Responsibilities

Prepare financial statements and related footnote disclosures for the lending and payments organizations in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Lead and project-manage external audits by coordinating with external auditors and internal cross-functional teams, including audit and control environment testing
Ensure all supporting records for financial statements are properly prepared, reviewed, retained, and reconciled to reported results
Assess financial reporting risks across assigned accounts and areas of responsibility, applying professional judgment to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial statements
Research and resolve technical accounting matters impacting disclosures related to lending and payments, including credit losses, allowance for loan losses, ASC 606, and ASC 860
Collaborate and lead across multiple functions (Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Business Unit Finance, and others) to achieve reporting objectives
Independently lead project-based initiatives, driving issues through to resolution
Monitor and interpret evolving accounting standards and regulatory guidance (FASB, SEC), incorporating changes into company policies and reporting practices as needed
Support additional technical accounting and reporting initiatives, including accounting research and benchmarking, preparation of technical accounting memos, and assistance with SEC filings

Required

10+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, with a strong focus on financial statement preparation and audit management
CECL experience
Proven experience preparing financial statements and related disclosure checklists
Strong technical accounting expertise under U.S. GAAP, with the ability to document conclusions in formal technical accounting memoranda
Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
CPA required

Preferred

Experience supporting fintech lending and/or payments businesses strongly preferred
Big 4 public accounting experience auditing financial institutions or experience at a large public company highly desirable
Technical accounting experience with credit losses, allowance for loan losses, ASC 606, and ASC 860 preferred
Strategic mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across the organization
Experience with large-scale accounting systems (e.g., Oracle Financials)
Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
Workiva experience a plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
