Howmet Aerospace Inc. is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. They are seeking a Grinder to utilize large and small grinders for conditioning parts, ensuring defect removal and surface smoothing prior to finishing operations.

Responsibilities
Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects
Removal of defects and/or sharp edges
Safely operates manual grinder or swing grinder
Replaces worn out grinding wheel or disk following all safety procedures
Performs crack inspection using Red or Green Dye
Grind consistent radius of different sizes per operation notes
Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface
Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policies and procedures
Wears PPE equipment per task requirements
Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder
Starts grinder and moves it over surface of work piece to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs
Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures
Qualification
Required
Minimum three months experience
High school diploma or equivalent GED
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk quickly, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear in a loud and hot environment
The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch, and climb onto equipment
The employee is occasionally required to sit
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and vibration
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
