Responsibilities

Perform various and routine fabrication on CNC mill, CNC punch, and manual mills
Setting up CNC machines for production runs, this includes setting up vises/fixtures, cutting tools and offsets
Build complex parts to comply with drawing specifications
Must be able to interpret drawings and build parts to tight tolerances
Must be able to edit and troubleshoot CNC machine code, to produce complex parts to engineering drawings, specifications, tolerance, and program software
Set high ethical standards for self and others
Verifies quality of components throughout machining process, first parts, in-process inspections adhering to standards
Maintains part specifications by observing drilling, threading, facing and milling operations. Takes measurements, detects malfunctions, troubleshoots, replace worn tools, and make machine adjustments as necessary
Other job responsibilities are sawing, washing, and deburring of parts
Occasionally aid in cutting fixturing, shop aids, new print revisions, and new parts never before produced
Accurate record keeping
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
Maintains continuity across work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Maintaining a safe and clean working environment
At all times, adheres to strict safety procedures and ensures that others entering the machine shop also adhere to safety protocols
Regular and predictable attendance is mandatory
Develop a working knowledge of various types of tool holders, tools, boring bars, and inserts used on CNC machines
Continually updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities
Maintain acceptable reject and scrap rates, and production rates
Mount, align and secure the machine's tooling, attachments, and workpiece
Install cutting tools in the machine spindle
Learn to load control media in the machine controller or enter commands to retrieve pre-programmed instructions from the database
Learn to calculate and set machine controls to position the spindle in relationship to the workpiece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow
Start the machine and monitor displays and machine operations to detect malfunctions
Stop the machine from changing cutting tools and setup according to the required machining sequence to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments
Maintain proper maintenance of machines, equipment, and facilities and keep them in proper condition
Identify problems and be able to correct them with some assistance
Responsible for always keeping the Machine Shop area clean and orderly, sustaining 5S in the department
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies
Work assignments are carried out to the highest quality level
Accomplish CQ Medical goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing production needs, new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value through our machining resources
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the job

Required

Must be able to wear approved PPE
Must be flexible to work a different shift, if needed to meet production deadlines
Basic shop mathematical skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Ability and desire to be at work on time and learn new skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical documents and drawings
Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and understand complex instructions in the English language
Ability to perform basic mathematical problems
Ability to use micrometers and standard measuring skills
Must be computer savvy with a basic understanding of CAD/CAM programming
Ability and desire to work well with others, displaying professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to achieving CQ Medical's mission and vision
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 4 years' successful experience as a CNC operator/machinist
Requires the ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, TPS specs, and engineering specifications
Minimum 4 years of previous experience performing operational functions of CNC machines

Preferred

Completion of Apprenticeship and/or certificate or degree in machining, engineering, or related field is a plus, but not required
