Safety Specialist

Goodwill Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Wellness Specialist to join their team. The Safety Specialist will work with the Director of Safety and Wellness to develop and implement a proactive safety and incident prevention program to support operations and reduce occupational incidents and injuries.

Responsibilities

Conducts investigations of accidents causing personal injury
Develops and conducts OSHA based training to increase manager effectiveness
Ensures regulatory compliance in all aspects of workplace safety
Travels as needed across the state conducting safety assessments, training sessions, root cause analysis, job hazard analysis or other duties as assigned
Analyzes reports to identify trends, recommend policy changes and work with employees to implement changes and reduce Worker’s Compensation costs as well as create a healthy and safe work environment for all employees
Administer, monitor, and enforce the organization’s workers' compensation, general liability, auto accident, and property damage reporting process
Assures that the collection and retention of OSHA and Workers Compensation records related to safety are done in accordance with agency needs and state and federal guidelines and acts as a resource to help locations maintain OSHA compliance. Enters data, ensure accuracy and completeness, liaison with IT and with system vendor to solve problems and implement improvements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field, required
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the field of Safety
OSHA 501 and 511 certifications, required
Must have knowledge of Workman's Compensation rules and regulations

Preferred

Ability to teach OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour courses, preferred
