Responsibilities

Recruiting and mentoring block captains, training volunteers, developing outreach strategies, and serving as a liaison between residents and City Staff
Supporting the Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC)
Collaborating closely with first responders, local agencies, and community organizations to advance Mill Valley’s public safety and emergency preparedness goals
Provide additional program development and/or project management as assigned

Required

High school education or equivalent is required
Minimum of at least three (3) years of professional experience is required
At least two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the area of assignment is required
Strong communication skills are required
Personal initiative is required
Ability to build relationships across diverse communities and settings is required
Experience in community engagement and emergency preparedness is required
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively is required
Skilled at using social media and digital tools to connect with the public, promote programs, and support community leaders is required

Preferred

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study to the assigned role(s) is preferred
Particular experience in a local government setting is highly desirable
