Cybersecurity Specialist II - NASA (Remote)
Rothe Development, Inc. is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist II to support a high-visibility government client, primarily focusing on developing and maintaining cybersecurity standards and documentation. The role involves collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with federal guidelines.

Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain technical standards, configuration baselines, implementation guides, handbooks, and related documentation for enterprise IT and cybersecurity environments
Work closely with engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity analysts, and program stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure technical accuracy
Translate highly technical information into clear, concise, and structured documentation aligned with client standards and Federal guidance
Support the full life cycle of standards development, including drafting, peer review, version control, and stakeholder coordination
Conduct research and gap analyses to identify where new standards or updates are needed based on emerging technologies, Mission needs, and/or regulatory changes
Ensure alignment of documented requirements and guidance with Federal frameworks such as NIST Special Publications, FISMA requirements, and other applicable policies
Participate in working groups and technical discussions, capturing decisions and ensuring documentation reflects current architecture and security expectations
Contribute to the development and refinement of documentation processes, templates, and style guides to improve consistency and quality
Provide subject‑matter input on documentation best practices and help mentor team members on writing conventions and methodologies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of experience in a technical role such as systems administration, cybersecurity, security assessment, or network engineering
Experience developing or maintaining technical documentation, standards, or system-level guidance
Ability to understand and document complex technical systems, architectures, and security controls
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and authoritative documentation
Experience collaborating with technical SMEs and cross-functional teams
Ability to obtain an Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Tier 4 Background Investigation for Non-Sensitive High Risk (Public Trust) access
Preferred
Experience with NIST SP 800‑series publications, Federal cybersecurity requirements, and/or compliance frameworks
Familiarity with DISA STIGs, configuration baselines, or similar technical standards
Experience supporting a Federal agency, defense organization, and/or a highly regulated environment
Knowledge of documentation tools such as Markdown, XML‑based formats, Confluence, SharePoint, and/or version control systems
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver high‑quality work in a fast‑paced environment
Experience collaborating with a team of people with different areas of subject matter expertise and diverse knowledge sets
