Akkodis is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer for a manufacturer in Gainesville, TX. This role involves design coordination of seats and seat components, interfacing with customers and vendors, and ensuring conformity of product designs while meeting engineering deadlines.

Responsibilities

Confers with customers and vendors on conceptual configuration and initial design requirements for various new and on-going seat programs

Reviews design specifications and incorporates into assigned product

Prepares lay-outs of overall design task including structural and articulation systems

Defines design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line

Defines and sets goals as to complete tasks as expeditiously as possible

Prepares advanced bill of materials and long-lead item list

Review design package to assure conformance to latest specifications and regulations

Prepares drawings for release

Assumes liaison duties when product reaches the various manufacturing stages

Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree)

Or must have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree

plus an additional 5 years of related design experience required with Bachelors degree

plus an additional 4 years of related design experience required with Masters degree

Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer

Requires advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products

Must have good knowledge of materials and production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions

Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments
