Responsibilities
Perform mechanical design, integration, and hardware tracking for UAS platforms and associated payloads
Contribute to rapid prototyping, design, testing, and system documentation for UAS multirotor systems and ground support equipment
Edit and create mechanical engineering drawings and support mechanical design efforts
Perform on interdisciplinary teams
Apply engineering principles to support the design, fabrication, and testing of UAS platforms
Troubleshoot flight control, communication, and electrical system architectures of UAS and other products
Design electronics packaging and thermal management systems for prototype and flight hardware
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary internal teams and external customers to provide mechanical and production support
Use SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM for 3D design, modification, and configuration management of UAS-related hardware
Some physical demands may be present when working with prototypes and testing(under 50 pounds)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Minimum of 3-6 years related experience
UAS design and test experience
Demonstrated project experience with 3D design(CAD) and 3D printing
Basic programming skills (MATLAB or Python)
Experience with SolidWorks
Working knowledge of basic tools such as hand tools, soldering irons, and basic mechanical assembly techniques
U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance within 6 months of hire
Preferred
Previous experience with SolidWorks PDM for 3D Design, modification and management UAS-related hardware
Background in designing electronic packaging and thermal management systems for prototype and flight hardware
Experience with troubleshooting flight control, communication and electrical system architecture of UAS and other products
