Senior Graphic Designer

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is a historically Black university located in Durham, North Carolina, dedicated to fostering innovation and progress. The Senior Graphic Designer will coordinate both print and web-related design projects, serving as the primary designer for university programs and other graphic design needs.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Coordinates with units and individuals requesting graphic design or layout work; develops ideas; suggests new or modifies existing ideas; demonstrates graphic techniques and advises other departmental personnel on techniques and methods to use
Works to gather and maintain photo resources; performs photo edited as required
Prepares cost estimates for individuals and departments requesting printed graphic design services
Maintains accurate records of work in progress for department records
Performs related duties as assigned by Chief Brand Officer
Researches and initiates new multimedia; recommends, implements, and maintains a library web-based multimedia, including audio and video streaming and software tools, various social networking features, etc., on NCCU Web sites

Required

Demonstrated project management and technical expertise with the ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills to manage multiple online and offline projects on deadline
Skilled in providing strategic counsel, advisement, and written updates for campus clients, including maintaining NCCU's Style Guide and web/social media policies
Excellent communication, editing, analytical, and organizational abilities with sound judgment and discretion in problem-solving
Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and diplomatically in high-pressure environments with flexible scheduling
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
