Responsibilities
Plan machining by reviewing work order releases, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances
Program mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs
Set up mills by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and indicating vices. Design and produce proper fixturing
Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces; adhere to work instructions on manufacturing travelers
Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; take measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs
Maintain continuity among work centers by documenting and communicating actions and irregularities
Complete production releases and quality sign-offs
Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Qualification
Required
Expertise in CAM programming (no specific software required)
Strong conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal and written communication
Functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, tooling, coordination, attention to detail, and judgment
Excellent blueprint reading skills
Excellent organizational and housekeeping skills
Ability to work overtime as required
