Staff Development Assistant/Scheduler

Mission Park Healthcare Center is seeking a Staff Development Assistant/Scheduler to manage staffing schedules and assist in training nursing staff. The role involves coordinating patient care activities, ensuring compliance with care plans, and providing direct patient care when licensed as a CNA.

Responsibilities

Plans, manages, and coordinates staff schedules
Communicates the schedule to CNA Staff, and makes proper adjustments when receiving call offs
Receives and coordinates vacation/sick requests with Payroll
Creates user accounts for Point Click Care and provides PCC training for CNAs
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include Provides patient care in a manner conducive to safety and comfort. Patient care includes, but is not limited to:
Assists patient with or performs Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and ADL audits
Ensures adherence to shower schedules
Obtains and records Vital Signs and weights per policy
Assist patients with ambulation and transfers
Positions patients in correct body alignment in and out of bed
Applies adaptive equipment as ordered
Cares for personal belongings
Assists physician and/or licensed nurse with treatments and procedures as needed
Makes both occupied and unoccupied beds
Schedule transportation for patient appointments and accompanies patients when transported outside the center for appointments as requested
Ensures patients are ready for scheduled rehab therapy and transports patients to rehab area
Notifies licensed nurse if patient identification is missing
Participates in the care planning process and implements care according to care plan
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Performs skin care treatments, as permitted by state regulation
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Applies simple clean dressings, slings, stockings, and support bandages, under direction of the licensed nurse, as permitted by state regulation
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Feeds or assists patients with meals and provides additional nourishment and hydration per care plan
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Records patient's oral intake and output
Uses electronic medical record according to the Business Processes, if applicable
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Answers call light or bell promptly, delivers messages, cleans areas of spillage or accidents
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Uses Standard precautions when caring for all patients. Adheres to Contact and/or Droplet Precautions as indicated
Participates in the orientation of new nursing assistants
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Reports changes in patient's condition, patient/family concerns or complaints to charge nurse and/or supervisor
If licensed as a CNA, responsibilities include: Collects and bags soiled linen and delivers to dirty linen area
Obtains clean linens and supplies from supply areas, cleans utility rooms, kitchen areas and all other nursing areas, as assigned
Cleans patient equipment as assigned
Transfers patient's belongings and equipment as directed, and assists with postmortem care
Assists with patient discharge as requested
Assists with the orientation of newly hired CNAs
Promotes a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment
Collaborates and coordinates with other departments to provide timely effective care consistent with individual’s needs, choices and preferences
Contributes to an environment that is respectful, team-oriented, and responsive to the concerns of staff, patients and families

Required

Current California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (If not licensed CNA, must be willing to receive CNA certification)
Current BCLS certification (Same as above)
Recommended at least six months prior C.N.A. experience in an acute, sub-acute, or skilled nursing care facility
Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing related bedside patient care services, as permitted by state regulation
Knowledge of basic medical asepsis and standard precautions
Willing to work rotating shifts and different units
Ability to contribute to a patient-centered environment
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
Must be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Successful completion of a state approved certified nursing assistant program (If not licensed CNA, must be willing to receive CNA certification)
This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs
Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy
Must attend a minimum of 12 hours continuing education programs provided by the center in order to maintain certification

Preferred

A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is preferred
Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn
