UNC Health is a healthcare organization that is seeking a Biomedical Technician I. The role involves completing preventive and minor equipment repairs on various types of medical devices and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
Inspects all incoming clinical equipment, such as new, rental, loaner and evaluation units, develops appropriate historical records
Uses service and operational manuals to troubleshoot and repair complex medical devices and completes preventive maintenance
Ensures all repaired equipment meets safety and operational requirements
Utilizes various electronic media to document equipment history, generate reports and account for time
Conducts training for equipment users as needed
Continuously keeps customers informed as to the cost and status of repairs
Responds to emergency medical equipment situations immediately
May perform repairs in stressful medical environments such as Surgical Operating Rooms, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department
Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements
Is available and flexible to take call and work as required to ensure coverage for the biomedical function
Qualification
Required
Associates degree in Bio-Medical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, computer science or equivalent military training
CPR certification within 6 months of hire
Two years experience in the electronics repair/testing field
Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate and repair a variety of technology, equipment and tools
Ability to read, follow and interpret schematic diagrams
Ability to distinguish and interpret different electronic symbols
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Strong knowledge of computers and technology including MS Office
Skilled at learning new software applications and technology rapidly
Valid NC Driver's License
Must be 21 years old if driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle and MVR must be approved by Risk Management
Preferred
Associates degree in Bio-Medical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, computer science or equivalent military training
Two years experience in the electronics repair/testing field
