Mechanical Design Engineer Subject Matter Expert

Responsibilities
Serve as the technical authority for mechanical part designs on Advanced Programs
Lead complex mechanical design efforts and integrate structures and mechanisms
Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, producibility, and cost targets
Embed Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles into every mechanical‑engineering project
Apply hands‑on machining experience and advanced engineering expertise to create cost‑effective, high‑quality designs for high‑volume production
Maintain a strong grasp of NC machining programs and elevate design standards across traditional and emerging manufacturing technologies
Qualification
Required
Serve as the technical authority for mechanical part designs on Advanced Programs
Lead complex mechanical design efforts and integrate structures and mechanisms
Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, producibility, and cost targets
Embed Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles into every mechanical‑engineering project
Apply hands‑on machining experience and advanced engineering expertise to create cost‑effective, high‑quality designs for high‑volume production
Maintain a strong grasp of NC machining programs and elevate design standards across traditional and emerging manufacturing technologies
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access
The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance
Preferred
Proven proficiency in NC programming in an Aerospace or Automotive environment
Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Advanced fluency with CAD/CAM platforms (SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA, Mastercam, Siemens NX, PowerMILL, Fusion 360)
Proven track record of implementing DFM/DFA principles that reduced cost, cycle time, and scrap rates
Competence in using metrology software (CMM, laser scanning) for in process verification
