Account Manager - Venting Membranes

Thornley Corporate Solutions is supporting a global engineered materials manufacturer in the automotive venting membrane space as they expand their North American commercial team. The Account Manager role is ideal for a technical sales professional with experience in selling venting membranes to automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, focusing on account management and business growth.

Responsibilities

Manage and grow existing automotive OEM and Tier-1 accounts across the Midwest and broader North American market
Drive new business development for venting membrane solutions, including pressure equalization vents, ePTFE membranes, and adhesive-backed vent components
Support customers through the full program lifecycle: concept validation launch production
Work closely with customer engineering, materials, purchasing, and quality teams to define vent performance requirements
Provide technical support on topics such as airflow, water entry pressure (WEP), IP ratings (IP67/68), contamination resistance, and thermal cycling
Manage RFQs, pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements
Coordinate with internal engineering, product management, and operations teams to support customer programs
Track opportunities, forecasts, and customer activity through CRM

Qualification

Required

5+ years of experience in technical sales or account management within the automotive supply chain
Direct experience selling venting membranes or pressure compensation solutions (e.g., ePTFE vents, enclosure vents, breathable membranes)
Strong understanding of automotive validation requirements and launch processes
Proven success working with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers
Ability to engage confidently with design engineers and materials teams
Willingness to travel regionally (and occasionally nationally)
