Medication Care Coordinator

Responsibilities
Dispensing Medications - They ensure that the correct medication, dosage, and quantity are provided, following established protocols and safety guidelines. Making sure patients' information, doctors' information, drug information is correct based on state laws
Prescription Adjudication Processing - Pharmacy technicians process prescription orders received from healthcare providers by verifying all medication related details. Also run medications through insurance to adjudicate live claims and collect copayments that may be due
Inventory Management - Manage the inventory of medications in the primary care setting. This includes monitoring stock levels, restocking medications, and ensuring proper storage conditions are maintained. They may also assist with medication ordering and managing medication recalls or expirations
Medication Reconciliation - Pharmacy technicians assist in the medication reconciliation process, which involves comparing a patient's current medication regimen with newly prescribed medications to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. They work closely with healthcare providers and patients to ensure a comprehensive medication history is documented
Quality Assurance - Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality assurance in medication dispensing. This includes performing regular checks and audits to verify accuracy, checking medication expiry dates, and following established protocols to minimize errors and ensure patient safety
Interprofessional Collaboration - Working alongside medical staff and assisting with health care related tasks. Working with providers, CCA's, and PRC's to achieve the best health care possible
Customer Relations - Helping communicate medications related information and issues to patients. Assisting in solving real time problems and utilizing empathy and active listening to achieving solutions
Qualification
Required
High School diploma required
At least one year of experience in a healthcare clinical setting
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT – state)
Proficient using email and word processing software
Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
Good communication skills
Teamwork skills
Problem Solving skills
Neat, professional appearance
Preferred
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred
Primary and/or urgent care clinical assisting experience preferred
At least one year of experience in a retail pharmacy setting is preferred
Knowledge of electronic health record software and digital scanning software preferred
Knowledge of inventory management is preferred
Spanish preferred
Creole preferred
