Responsibilities

Posts daily patient visits; reconciles documentation from rural eye clinics with daily appointment lists; analyzes clinic documentation for accuracy and completeness; assigns appropriate codes

Enters information to generate claims to insurance carriers; reviews billable claims for accuracy and compliance with guidelines; enters required data and costs; verifies and imports materials according to payer guidelines

Follows guidelines established by third-party payers

Responds to insurance company denial of claims

Applies payments and credits to patient accounts

Maintains patient account balances; prepares statements for unpaid balances

Updates patient files and records with insurance and address changes

Packages and labels documents according to records retention policies

Prepares regular and special reports

Performs related duties as assigned
