Responsibilities

You will perform entry/trainee-level engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer
Work includes assisting with the preparation of engineering studies, development of various details and portions of projects and assisting with the preparation of contract documents (Engineering calculations, Plans, Specifications and Estimates)
You will perform mid-level engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer
Work includes assisting in the research, development and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates and other engineering documents
You will lead the engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer
Work includes developing initial concept-level designs, vetting concept designs with the public and resource agencies for input, and finally producing construction-ready project plans, specifications, quantities, estimates, and engineering documents

Required

Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET
A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution not accredited by ABET
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination
One year of entry level engineering, architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience of which two years was as a Journey level Engineering Technician or Drafting Technician 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level
A valid Driver's License is required
Cover letter (see instructions below)
Copy of valid Alaska driver's license
Three (3) professional references, including name, job title, and current phone numbers
