Lead Counsel 2 - Negotiations
Citi is a global financial services company, and they are seeking a Lead Counsel to support their global derivatives business. This role involves managing the contract process for ISDA contracts and OTC derivatives, providing legal guidance, and leading negotiations while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Responsible for all stages of the contract process for the team from the initial draft through execution
Handles any internal/external escalations and escalate to senior manager when necessary
Advisor to internal partners including business, credit and operations teams to ensure that those partners are adequately advised on the terms of agreements being negotiated and the impact of external counterparty’s requested terms
Reliable partner to various internal operational and business teams in relation to the support of the firm’s global platinum client relationships
Continuously stay informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualification
Required
5-8 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions
Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Well-developed understanding of the ISDA Master Agreement and related supporting documentation
Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree
Bar license in good standing to practice law
