Responsibilities

Lead and prepare complex engineering designs, plans, and drawings for a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, highways, and intersections

Apply advanced knowledge of transportation engineering principles and stay current on evolving methods and technologies

Coordinate effectively with Project Managers, multidisciplinary teams, and clients

Responsible for the design, quality reviews, and sealing of assigned projects

Supervise and mentor engineers, CAD staff, and junior team members, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development

Required

Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or a related field is required

Illinois PE required or ability to obtain within nine months of hire

Minimum of 10 years of experience in highway/roadway design is preferred

Proven ability to solve complex problems using sound judgment, creativity, and innovation

Proficiency with CADD technologies, including MicroStation, PowerGEOPAK, and OpenRoads 3D modeling tools

Strong understanding of design and plan production processes, particularly within Illinois jurisdictions, including IDOT and ISTHA standards and procedures

Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to convey ideas, design issues, and solutions clearly

Ability to review the work of others for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards

Highly organized with excellent time management skills and a commitment to meeting project deadlines and budgets

Collaborative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a positive attitude and a passion for team success

Preferred

Minimum of 10 years of experience in highway/roadway design is preferred
