Power Supply Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Define, develop, source, and qualify OEM power supplies to meet product and market requirements as part of the project team
Spend time hands-on in the lab characterizing new power supplies
Design and support dual grid and redundant AC or DC power systems
Apply strong analog and power circuit design knowledge to system qualification
Write clear and effective technical reports and communicate technical issues to a broad range of audiences including power teams, software engineers, and non-technical stakeholders
Monitor OEM vendor performance during power supply development
Collaborate with vendor engineering teams abroad and lead projects from concept through production
Participate in defining next-generation systems; innovate and propose improvements to existing designs
Work closely with mechanical and compliance teams to ensure power distribution systems meet all national and international regulatory standards
Consult with system and diagnostic engineers on best testing practices for compliance
Travel internationally as required

Required

MS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience
Experience with regulatory processes for designing and certifying power supplies in commercial electronics
Excellent knowledge of AC-DC & DC-DC design issues, system-level power distribution, and industry best practices
Experience sourcing power supplies ranging from 100 Watts to 3000 Watts, supporting both AC and DC input power
Understanding of design challenges in large modular systems delivering total power up to ~30 kW
Familiarity with 54V to 12V IBC 1–3 kW converter bricks and PCB power distribution layouts using such modules
Excellent communication skills regarding requirements, critical path, and schedules

Preferred

Experience with SPICE simulations is a plus
Experience with custom product development is preferred
