Responsibilities

Confers with requesting Departments to prioritize and define valuation problem
Confers with project engineers to minimize property valuation costs
Recommends and implements policies and procedures pertaining to appraisals, appraisal reviews, and the use of non-appraisal valuations
Reviews and approves appraisals of real property prepared by staff and independent appraisers
Prepares Requests for Proposals and coordinates engagement of independent contractors hired to provide professional services
Delegate assignments and assume lead duties

Required

Four (4) years of professional full-time equivalent real estate experience appraising commercial real estate that includes performing cost, income, and sales comparison valuation approaches
Valid Certified General Appraisal License issued by the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers

Preferred

Proven experience acquiring right-of-way for public agencies
Possession of the Right of Way – Appraisal Certification (R/W-AC) and/or the Senior Right of Way (SR/WA) designation from the International Right of Way Association
MAI Designation from the Appraisal Institute
A Bachelor's degree in real estate, economics, public or business administration, or a closely related field
