Senior Underwriting Technician

They are seeking a Senior Underwriting Technician to evaluate medical professional liability risks, provide technical support to underwriters, and ensure compliance with underwriting policies.

Responsibilities
Evaluate new and renewal business within delegated authority levels and underwriting guidelines
Support underwriting decisions for solo physicians, physician groups, and advanced healthcare professionals; refer accounts outside authority levels as appropriate
Partner with customers, brokers, and internal teams to obtain underwriting information and respond to coverage questions
Establish workflows for new business submissions, including database searches, account setup, and policy issuance documentation
Prepare premium quotations for underwriter review and revise as directed
Process endorsements, mid-term adjustments, and renewals accurately and within service standards
Maintain clear and complete policy documentation to support underwriting recommendations and decisions
Conduct quality assurance reviews of transactions and documentation to ensure compliance with underwriting policies and regulatory requirements
Serve as a subject matter expert in core underwriting systems and tools, including document management, policy processing, and reporting platforms (OnBase, Oasis, TIM/STAR)
Generate reports, manage data, and analyze results to support underwriting and departmental initiatives
Assist with testing system upgrades and enhancements; document findings and recommend improvements
Identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborate with underwriting staff to design solutions
Participate in professional development, including insurance coursework and industry certifications
Support underwriting leadership on project-based assignments
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements
Qualification
Required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound recommendations
High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance-related systems; ability to learn new tools quickly
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
High School diploma or GED required
Preferred
1–3 years of insurance experience preferred, ideally in underwriting, policy processing, or technical support
Bachelor's degree preferred
