TVC - Suicide Prevention Program Manager (Program Specialist V)

Responsibilities

Plans, develops, reviews, revises, and implements trainings related to suicide reduction efforts (e.g., evidence-based practices, screening/assessment, risk factors, protective factors, gatekeeping, prevention, crisis intervention, postvention, gatekeeping, lethal means, etc.)
Conducts training in-person, through distance learning, or e-learning environment; facilitates workshops and meetings
Actively participates and/or leads state and local efforts to reduce suicide among Texas veteran and service members
Develops research-informed and culturally competent strategies to improve suicide prevention efforts across Texas in rural and metropolitan areas
Identifies and engages community stakeholders which serve veterans on collaborative efforts to reduce veteran and service member suicide
Represent the Texas Veterans Commission and the Veteran Mental Health Department at conferences, business meeting, and panel discussions
Develops partnerships with a variety of individuals, groups, and stakeholders
Composes, reviews, and edits training materials and reports
Performs related work or special projects as assigned

Required

Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other field relevant to mental health
Five (5) years of experience in providing mental health services
A valid Texas Driver's License must be provided within 90 days of hire
License or ability to obtain a Texas license to practice as a mental health professional, such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist within one year from the date of hire
All applications must contain complete job histories, which includes job title, dates of employment, name of employer, supervisor's name and phone number, and a description of duties performed
College transcripts, licenses, certifications, etc. must be provided before an interview can be extended

Preferred

Experience working with those experiencing mental health concerns, especially suicidality
Experience providing training and/or education on mental health topics
Experience working with collaborative suicide prevention efforts
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues
Experience working with veterans, service members, and veteran families
Experience in building and sustaining partnerships with federal, state, and local stakeholders
