Application Engineer HVAC and EV Thermal Systems

Responsibilities

Understand, define and summarize customer requirements
Calculate and simulate potential solutions
Develop generic and customer specific application solutions
Install complete systems at Webasto and at customer site
System testing
Documentation of system (Drawings, BOMs, schematics, reports etc.)
Responsible for Webasto’s standard HVAC and Thermal System components in NA
Support projects to localize production
Interact with customers by developing application solutions for specific vehicles
Interact extensively with Webasto HQ in Italy and Germany and a global supplier base to provide thermal application solutions
Work with customers to assess their application design requirements
Define the specifications, products and accessories to fulfill the agreed requirements
Based on agreed customer requirements, develop the scope of application delivery
Prepare all documentation necessary for production as well as customer support. (Drawings, BOM, schematics, installation instructions etc.)

Required

BSME, Mechanical Engineering or BSEE Electrical Engineer
Major: Control Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, Thermodynamics, Bus communication systems (CAN-, LIN-Bus)
Familiarity with HVAC and EV thermal management systems
Familiarity with controlling thermal needs in electric vehicles
MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
5 years' experience in Applications Engineer, heating, cooling and thermal management or similar
Knowledge of 3D CAD systems (Catia or similar)
Engineering and design of vehicle HVAC systems and components
Working knowledge of heating and cooling components and systems
Working knowledge of electronic controls and operating systems
Capable of direct customer interface and support to specify heating and cooling systems and components with rudimentary inputs from the customer
Prototype installation
Follow ISO14001/9001, IATF/TS16949 processes, as required
Strong written and oral communications
Acts autonomous
Team orientated and structured
Problem and conflict resolution
Target and deliverable focused
Demonstrated leadership skills
