Associate Director, Law Library

Responsibilities
Assists the Director in providing leadership for the Law Library, stepping in as needed in the Director’s absence
Oversees public services, including administrative and supervisory technical tasks, with indirect supervision of access services
Assists in library planning, and helping to set priorities for service to law faculty and students
Administers all aspects of the law library’s instructional program – including course design, content, and assessment – and coordinates instruction with law school and other law-related programs or classes
Provides leadership in incorporating best practices to enhance the law library’s teaching program in such areas as pedagogy, instructional technology and accessibility
Develops and administers law reference services, providing high-level, in-depth reference and research assistance to law faculty and students, as well as generalized reference service to the University community, local attorneys, and the general public
Performs collection development for resources in support of the curriculum and research activities of the Law School
Supervises librarians in the law library’s reference/instruction unit
Engages in service to the UO, UO Libraries, and community through work on committees and similar groups
Participates in appropriate professional development activities and organizations to stay current with trends and practices in the field, and to meet UO Libraries criteria for promotion and retention
Contributes to the University’s goals regarding equity and inclusion
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Library/Information Science/Studies
Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited institution
6 years of increasingly responsible experience in an academic law library
6 years designing, teaching, and administering credit-bearing law school research courses
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to achieve results in a collaborative environment
Ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment
Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of projects from conception to delivery
Expertise in providing classroom instruction and distance education, including: experience incorporating Universal Design concepts; advanced knowledge and skill in student engagement techniques for in person and remote teaching; experience supporting classroom technology and remote or asynchronous instructional technologies; and ability to mentor colleagues in course design, pedagogy, and instruction assessment
Knowledge of current information technologies and publishing formats, database and internet searching proficiencies and mastery of core legal research sources and techniques across all formats
Preferred
7 or more years teaching in a law school research and writing program
Experience supporting learning management systems, particularly Canvas
Experience creating LibGuides
