Project Architect – K-12 & Higher Education Building Design (Modesto, CA)

TETER Architects and Engineers is seeking experienced Project Architects to lead the design and technical delivery of K–12 and higher education building projects across California. The role involves developing construction documents, mentoring design staff, and ensuring compliance with DSA regulations while maintaining design excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of construction documents for K–12 and higher education projects across all phases (SD–CA)
Direct and mentor design staff while coordinating with engineers, consultants, and project managers
Review drawings, models, and specifications to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and design intent
Perform construction administration tasks, including reviewing submittals and RFIs
Provide peer reviews and technical guidance to maintain TETER's quality standards
Collaborate with project managers and principals to define design criteria, scope, and budgets

Qualification

California architecture licenseConstruction document developmentDSA-regulated project experienceRevitAutoCADBuilding codes knowledgeCommunication skillsTime management skills

Required

Architectural design background
California architecture license
6–10 years as a licensed architect for Project Architect I
10+ years as a licensed architect for Project Architect II
15+ years as a licensed architect for Senior Project Architect
Bachelor's degree in architecture or a closely related field
Registered Architect in California required
Valid driver's license for travel to project sites and meetings
Expert knowledge in the development of construction documents for DSA-regulated education projects
Proficiency in programming, building codes, and construction administration
Strong communication skills with owners, contractors, consultants, and staff
Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD
Strong time management skills and ability to work independently or with multidisciplinary teams
