PlanIT Group is seeking a Systems Engineer III (Email Gateway Administrator) to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The role involves administering and troubleshooting the Client’s Email Gateway Platform while ensuring secure and efficient network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Administer Broadcom/Symantec Messaging Gateway

Configure, administer, document custom policies for Email administration

High level troubleshooting of network and application issues

Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases

Responsible for configuring and maintaining email systems, policies, and rules for email traffic filtering and monitoring

The administrator is responsible for ensuring email security by managing email gateway security, identifying, and mitigating email threats such as phishing attacks, spam, and malware

Monitor email traffic and identify bottlenecks, plan and optimize the email gateway infrastructure for maximum efficiency and performance throughput

Provide technical support to end-users and IT professionals, resolve issues related to email delivery, and troubleshoot email gateway system performance issues

Responsible perform regular monitoring, logging, and reporting to track metrics such as email traffic, performance, and email gateway availability to ensure that SLAs are met

Required

Broadcom/Symantec Mail Gateway Experience

Strong technical knowledge of email systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and other platforms

Proficiency in administering email servers, including configuring and managing user accounts, distribution lists, and email policies

Solid understanding of email protocols, such as SMTP, POP, and IMAP

Familiarity with email security best practices, including spam filtering, antivirus protection, and encryption

Experience in troubleshooting email issues, diagnosing and resolving problems

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate email systems with other applications and platforms

Excellent communication skills to provide technical support and guidance to end-users

Proven ability to multi-task

Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Manages time effectively

Creative thinking skills

Detail-oriented personality

Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with co-workers

A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years' relevant experience

A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field then four (4) additional years of related experience is required

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check

All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years

Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
