Responsibilities

Administers the refuge's special use permits program by reviewing requests and applications, writing, and (at the discretion of the Refuge Manager) issuing permits
Monitoring of permittees' compliance with permit conditions
Plans and conducts multi-day field assignments to observe and detect unauthorized activities or environmental impacts
Provides high-quality customer service to refuge visitors, including permit holders and the general public
Answers phones and responds to general customer inquiries regarding the refuge
Develops and presents on- and off-site environmental education or interpretive programming for a variety of audiences, including social media content, web pages, and in-person lessons

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation
Uniform Required: The position is required to wear the Service Uniform in accordance with Service Uniform Policy 041 FW 4 Requirements to help achieve our mission
Individuals assigned male at birth after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
Driver's License: This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties. Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position
Work Schedule: The incumbent must be able to work irregular schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, as required by operational needs
One (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-05 in the Federal service
Completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education related to the duties of this position
A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement
Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) based on Class Standing, Grade-Point Average, or Honor Society Membership
PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name
