Health System Assistant (Office Automation)

Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation of the agenda items, presentations and reports
Attends planning conferences and meetings which affect current and future requirements of the program
Obtains workload data to track progress in meeting objectives and use of resources
Provides assistant level support for Health System Specialist functions
Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents in draft and final form using a Word, PowerPoint or Excel Spreadsheets
Uses office automation systems to perform management and/or support assignments
Develops professional Power-Point presentations on data identified by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors
This is an inclement Weather Essential position. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social)
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application
Specialized Experience for the GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes obtaining workload data to track progress and use of resources; using office automation skills to prepare reports and complete tasks; and receiving and/or answering routine telephone inquiries
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
Specialized Experience for the GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes writing reports to recommend improvements for healthcare program operations; performing a variety of automation functions to maintain healthcare administrative data; and answering questions to resolve administrative problems
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05)
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06)
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
