Responsibilities

Perform new design and have influence over what will be the Navy's premier attack submarine platform

Responsible for the technical oversight and leadership of a group of engineers designing submarine turbine generators

Projects will include new supplier development, experience using model based systems engineering, and concept studies exploring new technology development

Establish a strong relationship with Electric Boat, Naval Nuclear Laboratory, and BPMI

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

Preferred

Specific knowledge of submarine propulsion plant design. Additional knowledge of CVN 68 Class and CVN 78 Class design is a plus

Direct technical expertise with turbine generators or rotating machinery

Proficient in technical writing. Candidate will be responsible for the review and overall ownership of the team's written deliverables

Strong communication, both written and verbal. Candidate will frequently provide briefs to leadership at NNS and external parties including EB, NNL, BPMI, and Naval Reactors

Operational experience on a commissioned or under construction Navy vessel is a plus
