Responsibilities
Research, write, edit, and validate technical manuals supporting aircraft maintenance and operations
Convert legacy technical content into S1000D-compliant XML formats
Ensure documentation meets military, contractual, and program-specific requirements
Review technical content for accuracy, clarity, and usability prior to release
Update publications based on engineering changes, configuration updates, and customer feedback
Coordinate with engineering, production, and sustainment teams to resolve technical questions
Use content management systems and publishing tools to deliver electronic and printed manuals
Maintain documentation schedules and support internal and external quality audits
Ensure all deliverables meet quality assurance and configuration control requirements
Qualification
Required
4+ years of experience working with multiple aircraft systems (e.g., hydraulics, propulsion, avionics, environmental control, flight safety, structures, weapons, or related systems)
2+ years of experience with SGML or XML tagging
2+ years of technical writing experience supporting complex mechanical or aerospace systems
Ability to research, interpret, and translate engineering data into clear technical documentation
Experience applying style guides, specifications, and military or contractual documentation standards
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage documentation schedules and deadlines
Preferred
Military aircraft maintenance background
Experience with S1000D, IETMs, or XML-based technical publications
Familiarity with tools such as Epic Editor, Arbortext, IsoDraw, or similar publishing platforms
Experience supporting fighter aircraft or other high-performance military platforms
Background working in audited or compliance-driven documentation environments
