Andrews McMeel Universal is seeking a Cross-Departmental Intern for their Quirk Books imprint, aimed at supporting Editorial, Marketing/Publicity, and general Administrative Operations. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in various publishing functions over a period of 6-12 months.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative and logistical support to the Editorial team
Assist with book development, manuscript editing, tracking, proposal management, and departmental filings
Conduct research on comps, categories, trends, authors, and markets
Write reader’s reports, pitch summaries, and internal coverage as assigned
Assist with meeting preparation, agendas, note-taking, and scheduling
Proofread and fact-check materials; support the development of acquisitions materials
Assist with the development and execution of marketing and publicity campaigns
Research influencers, media contacts, and competitive marketing strategies
Draft social media copy, newsletter blurbs, and promotional text
Track campaign metrics, media hits, influencer posts, and social engagement
Support event preparation, galley mailings, promotional mailings, and asset organization
Provide general administrative support across departments (Editorial, Marketing, Sales, Operations)
Maintain shared calendars, schedules, project tracking sheets, and internal databases
Prepare meeting notes and circulate action items
Assist with office logistics including supplies, mailings, and vendor coordination
Contribute to documentation of workflows, processes, and best practices

Required

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
