Materials Engineer, Amazon Leo
Amazon is launching Amazon Leo, a low Earth orbit satellite network aimed at providing internet connectivity to underserved areas. The Materials Engineer will be responsible for developing advanced materials and processes for satellite production, conducting laboratory testing, and collaborating with vendors to enhance product development.

Responsibilities
Conducting hands-on laboratory testing and failure analysis of flight hardware and raw stock materials
Developing next generation materials to improve satellite performance
Working closely with external vendors to establish process control and identify new opportunities for product development and improvement
Qualification
Required
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
Bachelor's degree in materials engineering, metallurgy, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline
2 years of experience with materials selection, testing, and processing/fabrication methodologies such as casting, stamping, coating, cleaning
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in materials engineering, metallurgy, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline
2+ years of experience with electronic materials, magnets, contamination, composites, additive, or polymers
Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design
Familiarity with metallic and nonmetallic materials used in spaceflight hardware
Experience in characterization techniques and equipment, such as SEM-EDS, FTIR, DSC, TGA, LFA, rheometry, spectrophotometry, optical microscopy, hardness testers, and mechanical property testing
Experience in conducting technical evaluations of material processes and understanding of how the interaction between process variables can affect the resulting material performance
Ability to interact with and convey concepts to all levels of the organization
