Project Commutation Women’s Incarceration Attorney
Tulsa Community Foundation is involved in JusticeLink, LLC, focusing on individuals incarcerated in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The Women’s Incarceration Attorney provides legal representation for women seeking release through parole and commutation, and supports them in navigating post-conviction relief and reentry-related legal matters.

Responsibilities
Provide direct legal representation in parole, commutation, and post-conviction proceedings
Serve as counsel for Survivors’ Act cases
Conduct legal intake, investigation, and case preparation
Draft and file legal pleadings, petitions, and supporting documentation
Prepare clients for hearings using trauma-informed legal practices
Coordinate with reentry case managers to support individualized release planning
Represent or support clients in addressing legal reentry-related matters following release, which may include fines and fees, cost dockets, or other court-related obligations
Maintain accurate case records and outcome tracking
Conduct legal education workshops and outreach at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center
Collaborate with community partners and advocacy coalitions to address systemic barriers
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
Experience in legal document preparation, and knowledge of legal documents and terminology
Commitment to serving justice-impacted women
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
Exceptionally reliable, dependable, responsive, with a keen sense of urgency to client needs
Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated competency in listening, seeking to understand, accurately & clearly exchanging information, providing directions, following up, and ensuring proper documentation/tracking
Highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented, with ability to effectively manage multiple client calls/requests and follow-through under tight timelines
Excellent prioritization and time management skills, working in environments with highly variable volume, frequency, and urgency of client needs
Strong interpersonal skill set and passion for excellent customer service, engaging with respect, professionalism, compassion, and kindness in all interactions
Heightened sense of situational awareness, understanding emotional and traumatic responses, and ability to facilitate and de-escalate troubled behavior/interactions to resolve/find solutions. Stable, calm, level-headed, and patient demeanor in even the most difficult situations
Cultural competency and deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and alignment to JusticeLink's mission
Demonstrated proficiency (or ability to quickly learn and effectively use) using Excel spreadsheets, operating a smartphone and other required business applications
Willingness to meet personally with clients, including travelling in-state to different courts and DOC facilities
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and ability to travel between counties and/or DOC facilities as needed
Verbal and written communication with ability to effectively exchange information and manage constant flow of phone calls, in-person client requests, messaging, and documentation
Agility to consistently operate computers, phones, and other office productivity tools
