Water Production Maintenance Operator
The City of Flagstaff is seeking a qualified individual to join their team as a Water Production Maintenance Operator. This role involves the maintenance and repair of potable water production, storage, and delivery systems, ensuring efficient operation and service to the community.

Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
Performs a variety of construction, maintenance, service, and repair work in the water production section and trains other employees in best practices
Interprets maintenance manuals and can apply repair strategies
Monitors and calibrates a wide variety of instruments and equipment used in water treatment including: turbidimeters, chlorinators, chlorine residual analyzers, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and pH probes etc
Verifies accuracy of flow meters
Interprets GIS, blueprints, maps, schematics and construction drawings to determine hazards and conflicts in proposed work activities
Employs skill in operation of equipment such as front-end loader, dump truck, backhoe, and fuel truck and regularly operates such equipment
Using a 'maintenance management system' prepares and updates ongoing PM schedules for the plants, wells, and booster stations, maintaining adequate levels of supplies and manpower
Uses oral and written communications to keep superiors informed of any malfunctioning equipment
Coordinates and communicates with other maintenance and operations staff the effective repair or replacement of equipment
Assures that assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner
Practices good housekeeping at all assigned facilities: to include landscaping, and custodial duties

Qualification
Required
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license
Must possess a High School diploma or G.E.D
Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver's license
Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity
Must be available for emergency work: evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
All Emergency Service Employees shall maintain their principal residence within the state boundaries of Arizona
All Emergency Service Employees, except those holding a position in Fire, will arrive at the assigned or emergency work location within one (1) hour from notification to report to duty
Incumbents of this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening, and post-employment random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug/alcohol screening (dependent on CDL possession)
Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), type 'B' along with Hazmat & Tanker Endorsements within 6 months of employment
Must obtain an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Water Treatment Grade 1 Certification within one year
Preferred
Experience at other treatment plants
Apprentice level experience in maintenance trades with confirming certifications, such as in welding
Apprentice level work and certifications in low and medium voltage electricity
College level coursework in chemistry, biology, geology, or math
Heavy equipment operation experience (such as backhoe & front-end loader)
One year with any combination of demonstrable knowledge, experience and or training that predicts the incumbent will be successful as a Water Services Operator / Water Production Maintenance
ADEQ Water Treatment I, II, III or IV or ADEQ Water Distribution I, II, III, or IV Certification
