The Data Center Critical Operations Manager leads day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center, ensuring safety, uptime, operational excellence, and customer/service delivery.

Responsibilities

Own site operational performance: uptime, incident response, maintenance execution, and customer service delivery

Lead and develop a multi-discipline operations team (engineers/technicians), including hiring, scheduling, coaching, and performance management

Drive safety culture and compliance (LOTO, NFPA/OSHA practices, MOP/SOP/EOP discipline, training, permits)

Manage preventive and corrective maintenance for critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs/RPPs, HVAC/chillers/CRACs, BMS/EPMS, fire/life safety)

Ensure strong change management: review/approve MOPs, coordinate maintenance windows, reduce risk, and communicate impacts

Lead incident management: troubleshooting, escalation, vendor engagement, post-incident reviews, and corrective action tracking

Manage vendors and contracts (service providers, PM providers, and OEMs), including performance, SLAs, and cost control

Maintain accurate asset records, documentation, and reporting (CMMS, inventory, runbooks, and one-line diagrams)

Support audits, certifications (e.g., SOC, ISO, PCI, customer audits) and maintain readiness

Partner cross-functionally with Facilities, Network/IT, Security, Construction/Projects, and customer stakeholders

Required

5–10+ years in mission-critical operations (data centers, hospitals, industrial, utilities), including people leadership

Working knowledge of critical electrical/mechanical systems, maintenance best practices, and risk controls

Own operational readiness and reliability for liquid cooling systems, which may include facility CDUs, in-row/rack CDUs, rack manifolds/quick connects, rear-door heat exchangers (RDHx), direct-to-chip loops, heat rejection (dry coolers/cooling towers/chillers as applicable), leak detection, and water treatment/filtration

Ensure liquid cooling change control rigor: approve/oversee MOPs for valve lineups, isolation procedures, drain/fill/flush, air purge, pressure testing, and recommissioning activities

Drive vendor and OEM performance for liquid cooling (water treatment providers, CDU OEMs, hose/quick-connect vendors) and ensure spares strategy (hoses, seals, couplings, sensors, and filters)

Establish site standards for liquid-cooling safety and response: leak response playbooks, containment/cleanup, escalation, and post-incident reviews

MOP/SOP/ESOP creation

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in equipment rooms, climb ladders, and participate in on-call rotation as required

Up to 5% of travel may be required

Preferred

Experience in hyperscale environments and customer-facing operations

Familiarity with Uptime Institute/TIA-942 concepts, NFPA 70E, and structured MOP/SOP/EOP programs

Experience operating or supporting liquid-cooled critical environments (RDHx, CDU, direct-to-chip, or chilled-water/hydronic systems) with strong procedure discipline

Bachelor's degree or Technical Training Equivalent (military, Trade School, etc.)
