Postdoctoral Research Associate, Cancer Immunology (Department of Dermatology)

The University of Arizona is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the cancer immunology laboratory within the Department of Dermatology. This role involves studying the immune response to skin cancer, conducting experiments, and contributing to research projects that aim to advance understanding in the field of cancer immunology.

Responsibilities

Design and perform experiments, interpret data, and analyze results independently under the direction of the principal investigator
Apply new assays and techniques to advance your research project
Assume progressively more autonomous responsibilities for project development and execution with the aim of career maturation towards becoming an independent scientist. Additional career development opportunities will be tailored to individual’s goals
Participate in laboratory meetings, seminars and journal clubs
Present research findings at local and national meetings and conferences
Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, writing grant proposals, submitting fellowship applications, and preparing progress reports
Foster collaborations and network with researchers in the Department, University and outside institutions
Assist in training and supervision of laboratory staff and students

Required

PhD in immunology or related field of study
Wet lab immunology research experience driving the successful completion of projects and authoring peer-reviewed research publications
Highly motivated and conscientious
Ability to work independently under direction of the principal investigator
Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing
Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation
Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings
Knowledge of grant writing and manuscript preparation
Demonstrated ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and/or graphic formats

Preferred

Expertise with cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, in vitro assays using primary APC and T cells isolated from lymphoid organs, blood, tumors and skin, immunofluorescence, mouse models, and/or primary human cells
